Product Description Private investigator John Blacksad is up to his feline ears in mystery, digging into the backstories behind murders, child abductions, and nuclear secrets. Guarnido's sumptuously painted pages and rich cinematic style bring the world of 1950s America to vibrant life, with Canales weaving in fascinating tales of conspiracy, racial tension, and the "red scare" Communist witch hunts of the time. Guarnido reinvents anthropomorphism in these pages, and industry colleagues no less than Will Eisner, Jim Steranko, and Tim Sale are fans! Whether John Blacksad is falling for dangerous women or getting beaten to within an inch of his life, his stories are, simply put, unforgettable.

Phenomenal Noir Finally Available Again July 23, 2010 Adam Saltsman (Austin, TX USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been trying to get my hands on just volume 1 of Blacksad for years now - the going price for it was almost $200 this time last year (2009). Now you can get all three volumes, including one never before published in English, for $30 or less. This is a no brainer - the stories are really fun, and the art is absolutely second to none. I literally cannot name another graphic novel that succeeds visually the way this does, with the same level of polish. So much detail, such perfect lighting and composition. This is definitely a must-own book (and very much not for kids - the themes, art, violence and nudity are not really ideal for young ones)!
A Great Read August 4, 2010 Krobie79 (Washington, DC) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The artwork is beautiful and the three stories are well written. I enjoyed the book greatly!
First time the 3rd book is in English! Great read! June 28, 2010 D. Claunch (Springfield, Mo United States) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This amazing series is always a number one recommendation. The artwork and writing are both superb, and this hardbound collection is the first time the third Blacksad story has been printed in English. Without a doubt, worth the money.
Memorable Defining Stories with Absolutely Beautiful Artwork in Accompaniment August 9, 2010 QuietMichelle This book is wonderful in every way. If you love a great story, distinct characters and absolutely gorgeous artwork, you will love Blacksad. It's definitely one of a kind. (The content is not for the little ones).
Blacksad July 20, 2010 Lee Chilcs 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The hard-boilded detective story using animals for people is entertaining but the art is an a class all by itself. The work is beatifully drawn and rich in detail. I liked it so much that I found excuses to give copies to friends.
