Product Description
Sinestro -- Hal Jordan's former mentor and arch-nemesis -- has gathered an army of soldiers fueled by the fear they instill in others, consisting of Arkillo, Karu-Sil, the Cyborg-Superman, and hundreds more of the most terrifying villains the universe has ever seen! Former Green Lantern Kyle Rayner has been possessed by the entity known as Parallax and now assists the Sinestro Corps in cutting a swath of evil across the universe. Trapped in the depths of the Sinestro Corps' Citadel and face-to-face with the Guardian of Sinestro's army of fear, Hal Jordan must find the will-power to battle these terrible foes. And as one of the Book of Oa's prophecies comes true, the Green Lantern Corps makes a last stand that reveals the reincarnation of one of their fold!

5 out of 5 stars Fleshing out the Sinestro Corps War   July 10, 2008

A hardcover collection that compiles various side-stories and one-shots, Tales of the Sinestro Corps fleshes out the events of the epic interstellar saga The Sinestro Corps War, and many of the major players and the impacts they make as well. Featured here are backstories pertaining to various members of the Sinestro Corps, most notably being Sinestro himself, the sentient virus known as Despotellis, the insane and murderous Superman-Prime, and Hank Henshaw, AKA the Cyborg-Superman. Also featured here are tales dealing with the aftermath of the war, including Kyle Rayner's struggle against Parallax, as well as his new role as a Green Lantern, and his training of the newly christened torchbearer of the Lanterns, Sodom-Yat. What really makes this hardcover collection worth picking up however is the Secret Files & Origins one-shot featured here, which collects a horde of information detailing the mythos of the Green Lantern corps and the Sinestro corps, as well as a hint of the Black Lanterns and what is to come with Blackest Night. A more than worthwhile companion for The Sinestro Corps War, Tales of the Sinestro Corps is a must-own collection for anyone the least bit interested the epic crossover event.

5 out of 5 stars The Satisfying Blockbuster Conclusion!   September 21, 2009

Vol. 2 of Green: Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War picks up from where Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Vol. 1 leaves off. Sinestro has formed his own army of yellow lanterns wielding the power of fear. Oa is devastated, and the living Green Lantern planet Mogo is under assault. Kyle Rayner has lost the Ion power after being infected by Parallax, and heavyweight villains Superboy Prime and the Anti-Monitor have joined the fray. Now the Sinestro Corps have begun invasion of their next target: Earth.

Comic readers often feel a sense of wariness when taking on massive blockbuster event epics, as a great many never pan out to any satisfying conclusion. Not so with The Sinestro Corps War - this is a story that lives up to and exceeds the hype, with the final chapters significantly upping the ante even after the bar has been seemingly raised to the limit. Artists like Ivan Reis, Patrick Gleason and Ethan Van Sciver will amaze you with the visual density they can cram into a single panel, much less a full two-page spread. Inks and colours from a variety of industry talent including Oclair Albert, Prentis Rollins, Guy Major and more accentuate the action and flesh out the fine details to an unbelievable layer of precision. When the good guys come charging in to save the day, there's no muddled faces or hastily sketched outlines at work - you'll be able to recognize all the supporting characters as they light up their rings and tear the bad guys apart - literally.

And that last part is the final component of what makes The Sinestro Corps War such a success. Veteran writers Geoff Johns, Dave Gibbons and Peter Tomasi pay off the first round of build-up that started with Green Lantern: Rebirth while introducing new elements that continue into Green Lantern: Rage of the Red Lanterns, Green Lantern Corps: Emerald Eclipse and the currently on-going Blackest Night saga. The story splits evenly between Hal Jordan's personal quest against Sinestro and the overall war, and the back-and-forth between the two threads are handled quite nicely. Amid all the action readers even get an emotional climax as well, including scenes that pay off the rebirth of Coast City. Clearly there's a lot of love and care that went into fleshing out this saga, and it doesn't go unnoticed.

Volume 2 of The Sinestro Corps. War collects issues #24-25 of Green Lantern and #16-19 of Green Lantern Corps (Note: only the relevant 'epilogue' segments from #19 are included here...the full issue is reprinted in the following Green Lantern Corps. trade, Green Lantern Corps: Ring Quest). If you're looking for a jumping on point to get into Green Lantern or just want a satisfying event story, The Sinestro Corps War has you covered.

5 out of 5 stars The completing chapters of the Sinestro saga   August 1, 2008

I've read both volumes of the Sinestro Corps war and this third volume feels like the perfect companion for it.

It develops the conflict between Kyle and Parallax, explains Kyle's new role on the corps and the involvement of Superman Prime in the war and shows a little bit more about Sodam Yat and the most interesting memebers fo the Sinestro Corps. It answers a lot of question and geaves new perspectives on the events.

It includes also a very long list and bios of many of the corp's memebers, places and creatures of the Green Lantern mythology.

If you liked Sinestro Corps war, this is the book that will complete your collection.

5 out of 5 stars Must buy for any comic fan   October 18, 2009

Just recently got back into comics and this is amazing. I'm 25 getting back into them after starting with the Civil War and now after hearing how great Green Lantern was got sucked into this. This is one of the best series I've ever read hands down and everything after the Sinestro Corps gets better. Also if you are considering this pick up Green Lantern as well, not just the Green Lantern Corps, though personally both are equally as good. Hope you all enjoy.
